Judd Trump Storms to Shanghai Masters Title

Judd Trump made the perfect start to the new season, trouncing defending champion Kyren Wilson 11-6 in the Shanghai Masters final on Sunday. The world number one dominated the opening session to lead 7-3 before cruising home despite a brief evening rally from Wilson.

It was a second Shanghai crown for Trump, who previously won the title in 2024, and capped a fine week in which he also accounted for world champion Wu Yize, John Higgins, and Barry Hawkins on his way to the £210,000 top prize. Wilson had reached the final with a hard-fought 10-8 semi-final win over Zhao Xintong.

China Open Returns to Taiyuan After Seven-Year Absence

The China Open is back on the World Snooker Tour calendar for the first time since 2019, running August 8-16 at the Riverside Sports Centre in Taiyuan. Judd Trump arrives fresh off his Shanghai Masters triumph and could meet Ronnie O'Sullivan as early as the last 16 in a field also featuring Zhao Xintong, Ding Junhui, Mark Selby, John Higgins, and Shaun Murphy.

Defending the tournament's most recent title is Neil Robertson, who beat Jack Lisowski 11-4 in the 2019 final. The event carries a £1.205 million prize fund, with £250,000 for the winner, and every round through the semi-finals will be played over the best of 11 frames before the final steps up to a best of 19.
