Hussain Tops EPSB Open Series Ranking List
Hamim Hussain has topped the 2024/25 EPSB Open Series ranking list, securing a funded spot at this year’s Q School.
This marks his second time achieving the feat, having also finished first in the 2022/23 season—making him the first player to do so twice since the series began in 2021.
The 23-year-old’s consistent form included a title win at Oldham Snooker Academy in February and five additional final appearances, finishing four points clear at the top.
Players ranked 2nd-17th will compete in a play-off on April 13 at Mill Brow Snooker Club for another funded Q School spot.
Ng Defends British Open Crown
Ng On Yee edged out Mink Nutcharut 4-3 in a thrilling Landywood British Women’s Open final, successfully defending her title at Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall, England.
This marks Ng’s second ranking title of the season, following her US Open victory last August, solidifying her position as world number two.
With 22 ranking titles since her 2012 breakthrough, the 34-year-old has now matched Stacey Hillyard’s tally, placing her among the top five most successful WWS players.
Ng was in top form throughout the event, producing four of the tournament’s five highest breaks, including a century (113) in her quarter-final against So Man Yan.
After dominant wins over Laura Killington and So, Ng reached the semi-finals, where she overcame Thai rising star Narucha Phoemphul 4-2, sealing victory with breaks of 46 and 82. Phoemphul had earlier stunned six-time champion Reanne Evans in the quarters.
In the final, Ng stormed to a 3-0 lead with breaks of 51, 31, 54, and 69. However, world number one Mink fought back, stealing frame five from 49 points behind before forcing a decider—her fifth consecutive deciding-frame final on the WWS Tour.
This time, Ng held firm, clinching the match with a crucial 35 break in the final frame to secure a landmark victory.
