Global snooker updates from this week in an easy 5-minute read
Ng Advances to 2025 WSF Championship
Ng On Yee advanced to the last 64 of the 2025 World Snooker Federation (WSF) Championship in Saïdia, Morocco, after a dominant 4-0 win over Léon Alewijnse in the opening knockout round. A break of 60 helped secure her first-ever whitewash victory in the event, making her the first female player to win a knockout match at the WSF Championship. Competing in her second WSF Championship, Ng will now face England’s Alex Millington this evening. She previously secured group stage victories over Youssef Drissi (3-0) and Callum Beresford (3-2), with a stunning 102 break in the decider.
Calabrese wins in Australia
Vinnie Calabrese triumphed 5-1 over Shaun Dalitz in the final of the fifth WPBSA Q Tour Asia-Pacific event at the Redcliffe Snooker Club in Redcliffe, Australia. The 37-year-old former professional claimed his fourth win of the season, securing the top spot in the series ranking and an invitation to the Q Tour Global Play-Offs in March.
The event, known as the Dr Clem AO Qld Open Snooker Championship, featured 66 players from four nations. Calabrese dropped just three frames on his way to the final, including a stunning 141 break in the semi-finals against Xavier Daw. In the final, Calabrese's powerful scoring, including a 127 break, proved too much for Dalitz, who responded with a 97 break but couldn’t recover. Calabrese’s victory marked his fourth Q Tour title of the season.
The Q Tour Global Play-Offs will be held in Antalya, Turkey from March 11-13.
