Sykes and Murphy Secured English Open Nominations

Oliver Sykes and Aidan Murphy have each earned a spot at the 2025 BetVictor English Open after being nominated by the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB). The tournament, a key Home Nations event, will take place in Brentwood from 11–21 September.

At 19, Sykes topped the English Junior Tour ranking for a second straight season, winning two of the five events and finishing as runner-up in the 2025 English Under-21 Championship. Bristol’s 21-year-old Murphy concluded the season ranked second on the Junior Tour and claimed victory at the fifth and final event.

Alfie Burden Back on Top in Reading

On 18 August 2025, Alfie Burden commenced the 2025–26 World Seniors Tour season in style by winning the inaugural event at The Crucible Club in Reading. He defeated Aaron Canavan 4–1 in a rematch of their 2025 World Seniors Snooker Championship final. Burden dropped only two frames enroute to the title, including impressive 4–1 victories over Paul Nightingale‑Roffe, Daniel Ward, and Wayne Townsend, boosted by high breaks of 106, 56, and 80. His triumph also marks the beginning of a nine‑event season that includes at least four Crucible Theatre qualification spots up for grabs.
