Zhang Anda and Elliot Slessor secured the final two spots in the last-eight lineup this week, both finishing their groups unbeaten. Zhang recovered from a slow start and a draw with Jimmy Robertson to seal qualification with a pair of 3-0 wins, while Slessor bounced back from a tie with Dean Young to win his remaining matches. Notably, only four top-16 players entered the tournament, and none advanced this far. David Gilbert, the event's only former champion still competing, hopes to add a second title.

New Zealand Hosts Q Tour Qualifier as Season Ramps Up

Away from Leicester's spotlight, the Asia Pacific Q Tour continued its second-tier circuit with an event held in Auckland from July 10-12. This ranking tournament forms part of the broader pathway system feeding into the main World Snooker Tour, giving emerging players crucial competitive opportunities. The event followed the opening Q Tour leg staged in Perth, Australia, back in late June. With the Championship League wrapping up in England and qualifiers for the Shenzhen Open beginning shortly after, snooker's global calendar is entering a busy transitional period between seasons, with the Shanghai Masters looming as the next major invitational spectacle.
