Glorious Gradinari Retains English Under-18 Crown

Vladislav Gradinari successfully defended his English Under-18 Championship title with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Shaun Liu in Northampton. The talented 16-year-old completed an impressive English national hat-trick, adding the Under-18 crown to his previous Under-14 and Under-16 titles.

Gradinari showed tremendous resilience throughout the tournament, battling back from 3-0 down against Dylan Smith in the last 16 before defeating defending champion Daniel Boyes and Asten Sahota on his route to the final. Liu also impressed with a series of strong performances, including a superb 102 break during the title match.

The final proved a high-quality contest, but Gradinari held his nerve in the decider with a match-winning 57 break to secure another major junior honour.
