Global snooker updates from this week in an easy 5-minute read
England Dominates 2025 Home International Championships
Team England showcased exceptional talent at the 2025 Home International Billiards and Snooker Championships in Leeds, winning six out of seven major team titles. England A retained the Prince of Wales Shield, even after their captain withdrew due to illness. They also claimed the Masters Snooker title for the first time since 2018. Success continued in the Under-16 and Under-21 categories, while the women’s team secured another strong win. England capped off their campaign by reclaiming the Billiards title, dropping just one game throughout the event.
Snooker Legends Launch Academy to Foster the Next Hong Kong Champion
Judd Trump and Neil Robertson, both world-class snooker champions and Hong Kong residents, have launched the Hong Kong Billiard Sports Academy in Kowloon City. Situated inside a spacious shopping mall, the facility features five full-sized tables and four smaller ones—designed to elevate the city’s snooker standards. Their goal? To cultivate Hong Kong’s first male world champion, aiming to bridge the gap since Marco Fu’s semi-final appearances and Ng On-yee’s successes in women’s competition. Trump emphasized the need for accessible, high-quality venues for young players, while Robertson described the venture as an exciting opportunity to grow the sport globally.
