Global snooker updates from this week in an easy 5-minute read
Igor Figueiredo’s Pan-American Triumph
Brazil’s Igor Figueiredo achieved a stunning double victory at the 2025 Pan-American Snooker Championships in Sacramento, lifting both the Seniors and Open titles. He overcame Fabio Anderson Luersen 5-2 in the Open final to secure a two-year World Snooker Tour card, his fourth since debuting in 2010. Figueiredo dominated the event with multiple whitewash wins, conceding just two frames on his way to glory. His run included a strong semi-final win over former professional Victor Sarkis before outclassing Luersen, the defending Seniors champion, in the decisive match. The triumph cements his status as a leading figure in Pan-American snooker.
Qualifying Criteria Set for 2025 UK Championship
The WPBSA and World Snooker Tour have confirmed the qualification system for the 2025 UK Championship, one of the sport’s most prestigious Triple Crown events. The top 16 ranked players will be seeded into the final stages at York Barbican from 29 November to 7 December, while the remaining 16 places will be decided in Wigan from 22–27 November. Qualifiers will come from multiple pathways, including WPBSA Q Tour Europe winners, WSF Championship finalists, Q Tour Global champions across Asia-Pacific and the Americas, and EBSA European age-group events. Any declined places will be filled from the reserve list.
