WPBSA International Round-Up Highlights Global Growth
The latest WPBSA International Round-Up has showcased the continued expansion of snooker and billiards across the globe during spring 2026. From grassroots participation to elite-level competitions, national federations and development programmes have been active in promoting the sport across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.
A range of tournaments, coaching initiatives and junior events have helped strengthen the game internationally, while countries continue to invest in pathways for emerging talent. The update also highlighted collaborative efforts between the WPBSA and regional governing bodies to grow participation and improve accessibility.
The spring report underlines the sport’s increasing global reach, with momentum building across both amateur and professional levels as snooker continues to expand worldwide.
Women’s World Championship Secures Long-Term Home in China
The World Women’s Snooker Championship will remain in Dongguan Changping, China until at least 2031 following a landmark agreement between World Women’s Snooker (WWS), the China Billiard Sports Association (CBSA) and Cantonese Snooker.
The extended deal follows the tournament’s successful move to China in 2024 and comes after record participation at the 2026 championship, which attracted 78 players — the highest entry for a WWS event in more than 30 years. Hosted at the new Snooker Sports Arena, the event has provided a world-class stage for women’s snooker.
The agreement also promises increased prize money each year, reinforcing ambitions to further grow the women’s game internationally.
