Jak Jones claimed the second ranking title of his career, beating Mark Selby 10-6 in Sunday's final at The Centaur to win the British Open. The Welshman, who lifted his maiden ranking title at the Championship League just weeks earlier, got better as the match wore on, calmly closing out the final frame despite a mid-session comeback attempt from the four-time world champion.

The win lifts Jones up to 16th in the world rankings, while Selby's runner-up finish sees him swap places with Wu Yize to move up to world number two. It continues a remarkable few months for Jones, who has now gone from a Crucible finalist to a two-time ranking event winner inside a single season.

Liam Highfield made the highest break of the tournament with a maiden maximum 147 in qualifying, and rode the momentum all the way to his first ranking event semi-final. Along the way the world number 69 knocked out 2024 world champion Kyren Wilson 4-1, having earlier beaten seven-time ranking winner Stephen Maguire in the frame he made his 147.

Highfield eventually fell to Selby in the last four, but the run pushed him up four places to 65th in the world and marked the 245th official maximum break recorded on snooker's top tier. It was the fourth 147 of the young 2026/27 season.
